Country Golden Yolks
Country Golden Yolks is a unique poultry operation in the heart of the beautiful Fraser Valley.
It all started in 1989 with a white laying poultry operation, throwing caution to the wind and having no experience in chickens. Wanting to try something new, they decided to change some of their white laying hens to brown, giving these hens the opportunity to go outside into the pasture during the day and have a nice roosting place at night. This was the birth of the Free Range farming practice. As we put it, “There’s nothing better than seeing happy chickens.”
Country Golden Yolks overcame any chicken farming inexperience through a commitment to hard work. Each day they would hand pick eggs out of wooden nest boxes. This taught us lots about the chicken and the egg. We began to notice a change in the quality of egg that was being produced from our “happy” chickens. Country Golden Yolks jumped in with both feet changing all their white caged birds into free range laying hens!
Their chickens where raised on the family farm from hatchlings until full grown. Through the laying cycle the hens have always been given the proper care and nutrition resulting in a more content chicken and better quality egg.
With the change from caged birds to free-range came the need to build a new barn to house theses free-range chickens. Since this was the first of its kind it took a great deal of planning. Still labour intensive but with automated feed, water and egg collecting the barn was able to house large commercial flocks with a free-range setting. The process of collecting, grading, packaging and marketing has become a family affair. Parents, children, in-laws and grandchildren worked hard to ensure the product arrived on your table in the freshest and natural state.
This family farm was the first in Canada to receive an official Free-Range certification by Agriculture Canada and the B.C Specialty egg producer association. That same year Country Golden Yolks was awarded the farmer of the year award from the S.P.C.A. Enthusiasm in the Quality of the product has been recognized from many organizations through awards, trophies, and plaques.

Cornie and Connie Luteyn have retired from the family business. We are thankful for the legacy of hard work and dedication that they have left behind. As the next generation of egg farmers, we’re committed to helping keep the hard work and dedication to producing the highest quality egg. There are now several farms making up Country Golden Yolks, all located in the Fraser valley. We all work together to ensure that your families get to enjoy our Fresh Free-Range eggs!

Our Farm
The Luteyns, the founders of Country Golden Yolks have since retired, but the farm has remained in the family. Because of the high demand for our eggs, Country Golden Yolks has grown. There are now a group of local family run farms located in the Fraser valley. We all work together to ensure that your families enjoy our fresh and delicious free-range eggs!
The family farm in Rosedale BC, rests in the heart of the Fraser Valley under the picturesque Chilliwack mountains. The farm is home to our own home grown chickens.
We receive the chicks when they are one day old. They are placed in the environment where nutrition, health and welfare needs are carefully managed.
A high level of bio security is in place to ensure we maintain the high health status of our flocks. We recognize that the growth and development of our hens is vital part in helping to deliver a quality fresh egg. We have daily checks and make sure the chicks move around, perch, jump and fly at different levels so that they are ready to go to there new home.
Because the hens are cage free, they have access to outside pasture and feed on the natural ground cover. In addition they eat a special diet with no animal by-products, a premium all vegetarian natural feed high in protein, containing no animal cholesterol.
At Country Golden Yolks Free-Range Eggs, we believe that the production of the the best free range egg in Canada starts with happy, healthy hens. We make it our business to make sure our hens are well cared for. All inspections are met while it is our goal to exceed them. We are committed to the environment, the welfare of our animals and the production of nutritious farm fresh eggs. Our approach to producing the best free range egg has been recognized by our peers and co-farmers.
In 2015 we earned ‘Producer of the Year’ in BC.
